In his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday, Trump ruled out using force to acquire Greenland, prompting relief among Greenlanders and European politicians.
“People thought I would use force. I don't have to use force. I don't want to use force. I won't use force,” Trump said during the event.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said Trump’s statement was positibe, despite his ambitions to take the Arctic island. “We are not starting any negotiations based on giving up some basic principles. We will never do that,” he said.
