Описание: A Soviet spacecraft launched in 1972, Kosmos 482, is set for an uncontrolled re-entry into Earth's atmosphere around May 10. Initially part of the USSR’s Venera program to study Venus, the lander failed to reach its destination due to a malfunction and has been orbiting Earth ever since. While the risk of it causing damage is low, the spacecraft's durable design may allow it to survive the descent. With an orbital inclination of 51.7 degrees, predictions of its landing site are difficult, and it could fall anywhere between 52 degrees north and 52 degrees south latitude. Despite the odds, the possibility of Kosmos 482 impacting land remains a concern.
