御嶽神楽『返矢』東アジア文化都市2022 R4.12.25祝祭の広場

宝徳元年(1449年)に、豊後の国守・大友十四代出羽守親隆公が薩摩の島津軍を迎え討ち、大勝利を収めた。その戦勝祝いに御嶽神社を祀り、行った余興が始まりと伝えられている。その後岡藩主中川氏により保存・継承され現在に至っている。
御嶽流神楽は33の番付から成り、大分県南部地域や、遠くは熊本県にまで伝わっており、地元では毎年、御嶽流神楽大会を行っている。
御嶽神楽座はこれまで、明治神宮、靖国神社や霧島神宮において神楽を奉納し、全国神楽大会、九州民俗芸能大会、東京都で行われた全国青年大会に大分県代表として出演している。東京都の国立劇場で開催された国際民俗芸能フェスティバルには日本代表として出演してきた。
尚、平成19年3月7日付けで、神楽では大分県初となる、国の重要民俗無形文化財に指定されている。

【返矢:かえしや】
天照大御神が葦原の中国に天善比神を遣わしたが帰らず、次に天若日子を遣わしたが葦原の中国を我が物にしようとして帰らない。天照大御神は雉の鳴き女に様子を探らせたが、天若日子は雉を射殺してしまい、その矢は遠く高天原に届いて落ちた。高御産巣日神は、もし天若日子が命令に従っていなければこの矢が当たれと投げ返す。矢は天若日子に当たって死んでしまう、という物語の舞。

In 1449, Bungo no kuni no kami (Governor of Bungo Province) and Otomo's fourteenth Dewa no kami Chikataka welcomed the Shimazu army in Satsuma and won a great victory. It is said that the entertainment that enshrined Ondake-jinja Shrine to celebrate the victory of the war was the beginning. After that, it was preserved and inherited by the Nakagawa clan, the lord of the Oka Domain, and it has continued to this day.

The Ondake-ryu Kagura consists of 33 banzuke and has been handed down to the southern part of Oita Prefecture and the distant Kumamoto prefecture, and the Ondake-ryu Kagura tournament is held every year.

Until now, Ondake Kagura-za has dedicated Kagura at Meiji-jingu Shrine, Yasukuni-jinja Shrine and Kirishima-jingu Shrine, and has appeared as a representative of Oita Prefecture in the National Kagura Tournament, the Kyushu Folk Performing Arts Festival, and the National Youth Tournament held in Tokyo. They have appeared as a representative of Japan at the International Folk Performing Arts Festival held at the National Theatre in Tokyo.

In addition, on March 7, 2007, it was designated as an important folk intangible cultural property of the country for the first time in Oita Prefecture in Kagura.
