On the 20th of March 1939 Germany demanded the Memel Territory or the Klaipėda Region be ceded from Lithuania to the Third Reich, which verbal ultimatum was accepted 3 days later.
However, had this not been the case, Germany was very willing to invade the country and take it by force. The Western Allies would seize their appeasement strategy sooner, which would make them respond harshly to Germany.
