Dave Abbruzzese has always been a huge influence on my drumming but his drums on Vs. especially inspired me as an already avid Pearl Jam fan and drummer of 3 years on it’s release. Thanks to a friend who worked in a record store, I obtained Vs. the night before its’ release, an ecstatic teenager who ran home with his first ever pre- release album, spun that black circle and the first two songs blew my mind! The groove, the energy, the power, the inventiveness, the fast rolls, the subtleties, the cymbal work, the single pedal kick drum work… From the kid I was then, to the drummer I am today, thank you Dave for helping me become a better musician!
