A day after making nuclear and war threats, Pakistan requested India to reinstate the Indus Water Treaty through various means like frustated public and parliamentary speeches.
India announced the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) of 1960 with Pakistan will be held 'in abeyance' with immediate effect, until Pakistan stops its support for cross-border terrorism, after the recent Pahalgam terror attacks in April, which resulted in cold blodded murder of 26 people.
Citing a recent Court of Arbitration decision, Islamabad pressed for complete compliance with the pact. India, however, rejected the proceedings, accusing Pakistan of supporting terrorism.
