Our "Beyond the Battle" investigation into the people and places which made up our 1740s community continues with a look into Preston House and the Erskine family who lived there. Complex personalities, high politics, and domestic discord combine to create a remarkable and tragic family story, played out in the heart of the battlefield area.
As well as introducing the lives or Lord and Lady Grange, this presentation explores what we know about their home at Preston House, its location and appearance, and its influence on the subsequent development of the area.
This is an abridged version of a talk presented live at the Battle of Prestonpans Museum in February 2025.
