We provide a Felt Sense-Based Arts practice to cultivate cultural understanding and peaceful encouters. Creative Compassion for Peacebuilding (CCP) uses visual art from museums to promote an understanding of aesthetic compassion, building on the person-centered Relational Empathy paradigm
Dive into a self-paced practice of museum art-based CCP using our video guidance with Focusing (CCP 1) interventions. Choose one of the pastels of Adolf Hölzel as reference. Adolf Hölzel was a German musician, art teacher and pioneer of Modernism. He developed a musical color theory that impacted the artists of The Blue Rider and the master teachers of the Bauhaus School of Arts and Crafts. You can see his heritage at the permanent exhibition at the Hölzel House Stuttgart, Germany. For digital artwork of Adolf Hölzel, click HERE: https://www.kettererkunst.de/result.p...
To prepare and warm up, please enjoy one of the simple drawing exercises from Dynamic Shape Drawing (DSD), an anthroposophic art therapy practice
PRATICE OF EMBODIED AESTHETICS - Video CCP Directive 1
Creative Compassion Practice with Visual Arts Using Focusing Interventions.
Reference picture: pastel composition by the artist Adolf Hölzel.
Materials: Three sheets of paper, tape to secure them while working, pastels, colored pencils, or watercolors and brush. You will also need gesso to cover parts of your artwork as needed.
Part 1: Get a bodily sense of which part of the reference picture speaks to you. Recapture your artistic preference with a movement.
Part 2: Get a bodily sense of which part of the reference picture is of no interest. Recapture your artistic "limitation" with a movement. Put the movement directly onto the paper by drawing lines, shapes, and forms. Work on the drawing by coloring (art activity: 2–3 minutes).
Part 3: Explore how the two art pieces relate to each other with a bilateral movement (either with your fingers or with crayons). Recapture both movements simultaneously from your body sense.
Part 4: Place the bilateral movement directly onto the paper. Create new forms or shapes out of what looks like a chaotic bilateral drawing. Work on it by coloring and developing the drawing into creative art (art activity: 7–8 minutes).
Part 5: Wrap up by getting an overall feel for the whole piece and receiving a message as a gift from within
