I’m not here to hype up mediocre plays. In this video you’ll see me play Thresh support on LoL patch 25.20, the current Worlds patch. Thresh hasn’t been reworked in this patch, so success still hinges on precise hooks, well‑timed lanterns, and smart positioning. According to current stats, Thresh support sits in the S‑tier with about a 50 % win rate in Emerald+ ranked games and a solid pick/ban rate. I’ll be using a meta build tailored for this patch, but I’m not afraid to call out mistakes – mine or my team’s – and show how to recover.
Patch 25.20 context
Patch 25.20 is the World Championship patch, so the meta is tuned for both pro and ranked play. There are no direct Thresh changes for Summoner’s Rift, but several other champions were buffed or nerfed, which affects matchups and team comps.
Riot also added Worlds‑themed decor and a new streamer mode and removed the ability to ban a champion an ally is hovering, but that won’t help you land hooks.
Runes (Resolve/Aftershock): Aftershock for survivability, Font of Life, Bone Plating and Unflinching; secondary tree Inspiration with Biscuit Delivery and Cosmic Insight.
Summoner Spells: Flash + Ignite – the standard combo for engages and finishing kills
What you’ll see in this video
Early game pressure – landing D Sentence (Q) hooks on overextended enemies to secure early kills and deny farm.
Lantern saves – using Dark Passage (W) creatively to pull teammates out of bad situations. I don’t always succeed; you’ll see some costly misses, but I’ll explain what went wrong.
Mid‑game roaming and vision control – rotating with my jungler to snowball leads and controlling objectives. Expect honest commentary on when to engage and when to back off.
Late‑game peel and engages – combining Flay (E) and The Box (R) to peel for carries, set up picks, or force fights. I’ll highlight key misplays and show how to recover by focusing on positioning and cooldown tracking.
Why watch?
I’m not a pro player, but I’m a seasoned Thresh support main. You’ll get a realistic view of how to climb with Thresh in Solo Queue using the current meta build and runes. If you’re tired of flashy montages that don’t teach you anything, this video will show you the decision‑making behind hooks, lanterns and engage timing. No sugar‑coating – just honest gameplay with actionable takeaways.
Let me know in the comments what you’d do differently, and if you want more direct breakdowns of support gameplay. If you find this helpful, consider subscribing for more LoL content.
