In practice, it is most likely not a virus, and the virus warning results from the design of the old Atari emulator called PC Xformer Classic 3.8 for DOS, which I suppose contains direct and slightly unusual calls to the system.)

Instructions on how to install and configure the Atari 8-bit emulator (especially 800XL/800XE/65XE/130XE) on today's computers. It applies to both Linux Ubuntu and Windows. By the way, a short history and demonstration of the iconic game River Raid (Activision).
