Addams Family on the SNES isn't a great game, the controls are a rather slippery and loose, and the difficulty can be a little excessive, but at one point in time this was the closest thing I had to a Mario game before my dad got me Super Mario World, so because of that I have a bit of a soft spot for this game in my heart~
And well, it's not like the game is bad, I've played a lot worse, and despite its flaws I find it to be rather charming! The graphics are pretty good, and so is the music, heck, if I didn't think it was good I wouldn't have covered a song from it...
This game was also released on the Amiga and the NES, however the NES version was re-branded as "Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt" because there was already an Addams Family game released on the system before this one (and that one was kinda rubbish), and also to tie in with the cartoon of the same name that was airing at the time, it also had a few levels cut, so it wasn't as hard as the SNES and Amiga versions, it has no in-game music, the main hub was changed, and the protagonist was changed out from Gomez to Pugsley, but it's otherwise the same game. I think that version was also ported to the Game Boy, but I'm unsure...
As for the Amiga version, it's pretty much the same as the SNES version, but missing all of the extra BG layers, it has slightly worse graphics, less music (but the music is still good, just not as good as the SNES version in my opinion) and the frame-rate is rather low...
This song was also used as a Title Screen theme in the ZX Spectrum Addams Family game, but that was a completely different game...
I thought this song was going to be easy to reproduce faithfully on the PC engine considering there's not a lot of modulation happening in the instruments, but turns out the loops in the game's samples are a bit too wide to faithfully recreate in the PC engine's 32-step-wide wavetables, so I had to come up with waves that sound similar enough to do this composition justice... Let's see how you like what I came up with!
Повторяем попытку...
