Ram Sahaya Prasad takes charge as Nepal’s Vice President

Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav was sworn in as the third vice president of Nepal on Monday in a special ceremony at the Office of the President in Kathmandu. Newly-elected President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Yadav. A minister in the former PM Deuba's government, Yadav was elected to the post of Vice President on March 17 after he secured a comfortable majority over his main contender Ashta Laxmi Shakya of CPN-UML. He is the first to assume the office from Madhesh region which borders India. He started his political journey in 1990 with Nepal Sadbhawana Party and had an active role in the first Madhesh Movement. He held the portfolio of forest and environment ministry in the previous government.
