Storm-Rescue of a large, rare, and injured Sea Turtle

Описание: After a severe storm front battered the southwest coast for more than 24hrs, our Conservation Manager received a wildlife distress call for a very special animal found near Yallingup at Dawson's Beach early this morning. The severely injured Olive Ridley Sea Turtle was brought in by Sasha from Dunsborough and Busselton Wildlife Care Inc (https://www.dunsboroughwildlifecare.com/) who carried it all the way up the beach by herself. What a champion Sasha is!
Our Rescue & Rehabilitation Team had already setup up a large and warm freshwater tank in which the turtle was placed immediately to start the life-saving rehydration process, as they can pick up moisture through their skin. Initial examination and measurements were taken, injuries around both eyes and flippers were recognizable and need further treatment.
Together with Parks and Wildlife (DBCA) we organized a trip to the Vet at Perth Zoo, where the treatment will be continued. The Turtle was named by Sasha 'Dawson'. The Dolphin Discovery Centre has currently got 23 baby loggerhead sea turtles in its care and rehabilitation program.
