James and Laurel Kells run Taupō Water Sports, operating electric Doughboats and Jet Skis on Lake Taupō – New Zealand's largest lake. Six seasons in, they’re running a solid operation with strong domestic support and excellent reviews.
The problem is, they’ve also had to refund hundreds of thousands of dollars because of the wind. Lake Taupō is beautiful but unpredictable and wind is constantly shutting down operations.
That's where the VS–9 comes in. With its advanced seakeeping and enclosed, premium cabin, they can pivot to a unique experience that isn't at the mercy of the weather. They're trading seven hire-and-drives for one VS–9 and launching Taupō Hydrofoil Tours.
