Описание: BYD has unveiled its second-generation Blade Battery, introducing a major breakthrough in electric vehicle charging technology.

When paired with BYD’s upcoming megawatt-level flash charging system, the new battery can reportedly charge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes for the 70 kWh model, dramatically reducing the time needed to recharge an electric vehicle.

Using an upgraded lithium-iron-phosphate chemistry and improved internal architecture, the battery allows significantly higher charging power, while maintaining the safety and durability that the Blade Battery is known for.

A key improvement of the new battery is its performance in cold weather. BYD says the second-generation Blade Battery can still charge extremely quickly even in freezing conditions, reaching about 97% charge in roughly 12 minutes at temperatures as low as −30°C.

This addresses one of the biggest challenges for electric vehicles, as battery charging typically slows significantly in cold climates.

The company achieved this through improved ion transport inside the battery cells and a more advanced thermal management system that keeps the battery operating within an optimal temperature range.

The Blade Battery’s distinctive long, thin cell design continues to provide strong structural integrity and efficient use of space inside the battery pack, improving both safety and packaging efficiency.

The new battery is expected to appear in several upcoming BYD models and premium brands, supported by a new network of ultra-fast charging stations, capable of delivering up to 1.5 megawatts of power.

If deployed widely, the technology could significantly shorten EV charging times and help accelerate the global adoption of electric vehicles.
