Ghana's Multidimensional poverty is declining, falling from 24.9% in 2024 Q4 to 21.9% by 2025 Q3.
Over 360,000 people moved out of multidimensional poverty between Q2 and Q3 of 2025 alone. In Quarter 3 of 2025, 7.2 million people in Ghana were multidimensionally poor compared to 8.1 million people in Quarter 3 of 2024. That is, about 950,000 people moved out of multidimensional poverty between Q3 of 2024 and Q3 of 2025.
But this progress is not shared evenly as poverty remains much higher in rural areas than urban areas. In addition, poverty is more endemic in some regions than others. The biggest multidimensional poverty pressures are still linked to health and living conditions. Health insurance coverage, nutrition, overcrowding, and sanitation, continue to be the biggest pressure points.
These statistics are not just numbers. They are signals for action for government, businesses, labour, civil society, development partners, and households. They show us where to focus resources, what to fix first, and how to protect vulnerable people, including those facing the triple burden of poverty, unemployment, and food insecurity.
