Описание: This emotional talk looks at the bond between two beautiful children and the devastating challenges endured as a result of genetic disorders. This is the story of one determined mother, who through her dedication and subsequent establishment of The Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation endeavours to bring medical research initiatives to Australia in order to combat these disorders. Megan Donnell is the founder and Executive Director of the Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation and for her, it's personal. Her two children, Isla and Jude, both suffer from the rare and fatal genetic childhood disease, Sanfilippo Syndrome. Since inception in 2013, the Foundation has committed almost $6.5m funding into 20+ medical research initiatives to address this disorder including bring-ing a pioneering gene therapy clinical trial to Australia. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
