[ESP] La Mujer Muerta, es el topónimo que se da al conjunto de montes de La Pinareja, Peña el Oso y Pico de Pasapán, que formando un destacado cordal y visto desde la vertiente segoviana toma la aparente forma de una mujer tumbada, dormida o muerta, cubierta por un velo y con los brazos entrecruzados. Tanto es así que en el folclore de la sierra existen diversas leyendas que explican el porqué de esta caprichosa forma.
Unas relatan la transformación que experimentó el cuerpo de una doncella que murió del mal de amores cuando su caballero partió para la guerra, olvidando cumplir la promesa de volver junto a ella. Otra leyenda, más guerrera y menos romántica relata las luchas por la jefatura que llevaron a cabo dos hermanos, hijos del recientemente fallecido jefe de una tribu que vivía en la entonces extensa planicie. La madre de ambos, que no quería ver aquella lucha fratricida, ofreció su vida a los dioses a cambio de la paz para sus hijos y así se cumplió. Tras una gran tormenta, apareció el cuerpo de la madre en forma de gran montaña, imagen que los hijos reconocieron e inmediatamente pararon la lucha.

[ENG] La Mujer Muerta (The Dead Woman), is the place name given to the set of mountains of La Pinareja, Peña el Oso and Pico de Pasapán, which forming a prominent tailpiece and seen from the segovian side takes the apparent form of a woman lying, sleeping or dead, covered by a veil and with arms crossed. So much so that in the folklore of the mountains there are several legends that explain why this capricious form.
Some report the transformation experienced by the body of a maiden who died of the evil of love when her knight left for war, forgetting to keep the promise to return to her. Another legend, more warrior and less romantic, tells of the fights for the leadership carried out by two brothers, children of the recently deceased chief of a tribe who lived in the then extensive plain. The mother of both, who did not want to see that fratricidal struggle, offered her life to the gods in exchange for peace for her children and it was fulfilled. After a great storm, the mother's body appeared in the form of a great mountain, an image that the children recognized and immediately stopped the fight.
