But in order to truly know the surf culture in San Diego, you have to understand the history behind it.

With that knowledge comes a greater appreciation of surfing and the people in the community who’ve helped make history right here in San Diego.

This is so fitting, as I embark on my 1 year anniversary as a Photojournalist at KUSI, I was able to work on my first ever co-produced Special Report! Me and KUSI's Diane Tuazon were able to sit down and talk with local surf company G&S Surfboards to talk about their rich history in San Diego as well as their father's legacy that he left in San Diego as an original Surf pioneer! This story took weeks to make and finalize, with 65 years of legacy to be squeezed into 6 minutes. I am very proud of this piece, and who knows maybe it will end up winning me an Emmy Award in the near future?!?
I grew up watching on KUSI, "Dave's World of Wonder" and since Dave Scott's retirement KUSI has yet to see interesting stories being told like Dave told them. So I hope this does a little justice to something he would have used to do!
