On Sunday, February 08, 2026, I was travelling southbound on Interstate 49 at Mile Marker 82. I witnessed a pickup truck
merging onto the interstate from the southbound on ramp, the pickup truck travelled the entirety of the on ramp when there was
ample space to merge into traffic. The pickup truck then swerved into the far-right lane of travel and accelerated. The pickup
truck then changed lanes from the far-right lane to the far-left lane causing multiple vehicles to swerve in order to not collide
with the vehicle. The pickup truck switched from the far-left lane back to the far-right lane passing multiple vehicles. The pickup
truck swerved into the middle lane and struck the passenger side of a grey passenger car. See report 202602202ASP.
I activated my emergency lights and siren and clocked the pickup truck at 110 miles per hour in a marked 70 miles per hour
zone. At Mile Marker 81 I was behind the pickup truck, pickup truck was unable to maintain its lane and continued to drive at a
high rate of speed. I placed my patrol unit in the middle lane and alternated between my siren and air horn, the vehicle
continued southbound. I radioed dispatch the license plate number BAV79P, as I approached the vehicle again on the driver
side with lights and sirens the vehicle braked hard and swerved towards my patrol unit. I was able to see the drivers’ eyes in
the driver’s side mirror looking back towards my patrol unit.
I notified dispatch I was in pursuit of the vehicle at Mile Marker 81 approaching Mile Marker 78. I positioned my patrol unit and
was able to conduct a TVI, Tactical Vehicle Intervention. I spun the pickup truck from the right lane into the left lane; the pickup
truck continued to spin and came to a stop facing westbound in the right lane and shoulder. I exited my patrol unit and began
giving verbal commands to the driver. I informed dispatch the vehicle was stopped, and the driver was reaching around inside
the vehicle.
The driver rolled down the passenger window, and I instructed him to exit the vehicle from the passenger side, the driver
complied and exited the vehicle. Once other units arrived I was able to safely place handcuffs on the suspect. I checked for
tightness and double locked for safety, I placed the subject in the back seat of my patrol unit after searching his pockets.
Trooper First Class Marshall Hill, Trooper Sean Palmer and I finished clearing the vehicle to ensure there were no other
occupants. Trooper First Class Hill inventoried the vehicle, during the inventory a wallet and cell phone were retrieved. Trooper
Palmer and I spoke to the occupants of the Tesla that was struck and Trooper Palmer completed the crash investigation
portion.
Prior to transporting the suspect, if he understood what was going on, he stated not really. I informed him he was under arrest
for felony fleeing, Driving While Intoxicated, speeding and leaving the scene of a crash, while speaking with the suspect I could
smell the odor of intoxicants he also had blood shot watery eyes.
I transported the subject to Benton County Sheriff's Office.
During the intake process, it was determined that the subject had a counterfeit drivers license, the license provided was for
Wood, Ronald from Missouri, the subject provided the Name Wood, Ronald from Arkansas,
Dispatch was able to locate the subject with the correct name and date of birth.
