Описание: In this talk Irm Haleem reflects on why it is more fashionable to talk about violence, wars and terrorism, than it is to talk about love and hope. Irm is an Assistant Professor at the Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) in NTU Singapore, and author of the book 'The Essence of Islamist Extremism: Recognition Through Violence, Freedom Through Death'. Her research interests focus on a conceptual and philosophical analysis of violence that seeks to explain violence within the broader context of human fears and desires. She is now working towards the completion of her second book: 'Death as Existence'. She is an assistant professor and manager of research and publications at ICPVTR-RSIS NTU(Singapore). Her research encompasses a conceptual analysis of violence with a stint on Islamic extremism. Her work on "The Essence of Islamist Extremism" has been critical. Recognising this the USAF, Asian office of Research and Development awarded her a one-year research grant towards the completion of her book "Death as Existence".
