One of the greatest rhumba songs of 1970 was Maseke ya Meme (the horns of a sheep) by Negro Success. The song was written in Lingala language by the group's lead guitarisy Bavon Siongo, popularly known as Bavon Marie Marie. Released in March 1970, Maseke ya Meme denounced witchcraft and lamented the torment that bad relatives were visiting upon a young family member trying to make an honest living.
