This week I rented a 2025 VW GTI...is it any good?!
I rent and drive new vehicles every week, normally it's something bigger or more luxurious. I was really happy to see a small car, I love sport compacts and haven't driven one on camera.
Compared to the old VTEC Hondas, 2ZZ, SR20s, even early turbo sport compacts (MazdaSpeed 3, Eclipse GST/GSX, Cobalt SS, SRT4), this thing feels extremely dead. It's quick and handles well enough, just doesn't communicate at all
I liked it as a commuter/daily driver though! Besides some insane choices with screen/Infotainment and of course, the absurd nearly $40k price tag for a base model
