Shaniwar Wada was a grand fortified residence built in Pune in 1732 by Peshwa Bajirao I to serve as the seat of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire. Although initially a massive, multi-story complex, it was largely destroyed by a fire in 1828, though its walls, gates, and gardens remain. The name "Shaniwar Wada" means "Saturday residence" and was chosen because its foundation and opening ceremonies took place on a Saturday. Today, it is a popular historical site visited for its remnants of the past, which include the Delhi Darwaza, and features a light and sound show that tells its history.

If you’re a true Mughlai food lover, Karim’s Pune is pure heaven!
The moment you step in, you’re greeted with the rich aroma of slow-cooked gravies and smoky kebabs. I tried their Mutton Seekh Kebabs – melt-in-the-mouth, perfectly spiced, and full of flavour. The Nihari with soft Khamiri Roti was royal and soul-satisfying, and the Keema Naan was simply next level!

Service was quick, staff was polite, and the ambience had that old Delhi charm.
Definitely a must-visit place if you want authentic Mughlai taste in Pune.
Highly recommended for meat lovers!
