Copenhagen residents reacted to the Danish health authorities' move to order a temporary halt in the use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, on Thursday, over concerns after several patients developed blood clots. The precautionary move was also instated in six other European countries including Austria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg and Norway. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) announced on Wednesday that there are no indicators that the AstraZeneca vaccine has caused the formation of blood clots within blood vessels, a condition also known as multiple thrombosis. The EMA also stated that its safety committee, the Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee (PRAC), will be investigating the issue further. An investigation into the events is also being carried by the Danish Medicines Agency.
