Key Points:
Utilize a vocal fry or cry to move with ease into your high notes
The sensation of head voice will feel as is your voice is coming out of your cheeks and forehead. You may feel some vibrations in these places.
Notes: This head voice exercise is all about helping you to get familiar with the sensations of singing in head voice, activating head voice muscular coordination, and helping the vocal folds come together well to produce clarity in your head voice. You will explore several kinds of sound qualities in your head voice through these exercises.
We'll walk through how to create a vocal cry/fry sound. This is a very helpful tool for singing your high notes with ease. Nothing should ever feel squeezed or forced. Feel free to take each exercise as high as you comfortably can.
With these exercises, we are focused on getting down good muscular coordination of the head voice and efficient vocal fold closure. These exercises are not about challenging your head voice but about training it so you can easily and healthily access it at any time. Once you feel that you are getting the hang of head voice coordination and feeling your head voice strengthening, we recommend singing through the Range Extender: High Notes Focus Session for more of a challenge!
