Description:

The Eurasian collared dove is a medium-sized bird. Its plumage is mostly pinkish-grey with a paler throat, breast, and belly. It has a black semi-ring on the nape for which it is named.

The under-wings bear blue-grey patches and the tail feathers are white-tipped with dark-grey beneath. It has short legs, a short, black bill, and red irises. Males and females are identical.

Vocalizations:

The Eurasian collared dove produces a soft, cooing song. It also has a harsh screechy landing call.

Distribution:

Eurasian collared doves are common and widespread birds. They are native to Europe and Asia, but they are highly dispersive and have colonized lands far beyond their native range. They were also introduced to Japan, the Caribbean, and North America, where they have become invasive species.

Habitat:
