At the end of ep. 10, Head Teacher Soryu Forall mentioned that secular humanism is beginning to lose its sway as our civilization less and less believes that humans are the pinnacle of creation and that the world is made out of matter.

Instead, a new religion is coming forth which claims that the substrate of the universe is data or algorithms, and what we ought to do is build algorithms that can process more data. This religion is called dataism — a close cousin of effective accelerationism — and it is arising from the most important religious center in the world for the past few centuries: Silicon Valley.

Dataism sees humans, animals, nature, all of it, as being valuable to the extent that they contain data to be processed. So if that means turning humans into cyborgs and nature into data processing centers, then that is sacred and good.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

What the emerging religion of dataism is.
