Описание: The North Fork of the Roanoke River (NFRR) watershed project is a collaborative effort with five conservation entities and three landowners committed to implementing restoration, improvement and protection activities for the benefit of the federally listed Roanoke logperch. The New River Land Trust (NRLT) is the project administrator and lead for the outreach & education effort. The Canaan Valley Institute (CVI) and the United States Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) are leads for implementation of restoration activities with collaborators the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) and Skyline Soil & Water Conservation District. The project is made possible by support from the Virginia Environmental Endowment's Community Conservation Program, USFWS, DWR and the Town of Blacksburg.

The Roanoke logperch is threatened by siltation from anthropogenic activities. The 2007 USFWS Roanoke Logperch Recovery Plan (Recovery Plan) identifies the need for projects to reduce sedimentation, agricultural runoff, and improve stream and riparian habitat. The NFRR is specifically identified as highest priority and recovery potential within the Roanoke River Basin. Restoration activities will also help address water quality impairments documented in the 2016 Roanoke River Bacteria & Sediment TMDL Implementation Plan Part II (Plan Part II).

This video is part of outreach and educational activities designed to advance environmental literacy and awareness related to water quality, watershed management and natural resources conservation.
