Kvens for Mining
The Kven Indigenous people have thousand-year-old traditions of working with minerals. Mining is necessary for a sustainable future in so many ways. Mining is important for Northern Norway and the whole of Kveenimaa (Kvenland). It creates good jobs and maintains important industrial competence.
The leader of the Kvenlandsförbundet, Rune Bjerkli, was in Repparfjord at the Nussir mining facility on August 15 and explains in these videos why the activists against the mine are overreacting. Also present was Simon Åkesson, who has worked for many years with Nussir. He has started a Facebook group ( / 684536664751395 ) to provide information about the facts regarding mining, as well as to promote Nussir and business development in Hammerfest and his hometown Kvalsund.
