A level crossing located in Coalville, situated to the north west of Leicester near the centre of the country. As of the start of this year / end of last, this level crossing is now very sporadically-used in daylight, but still used regularly at night / in the 'small' hours. All that uses this crossing now is out-bound locomotives / trains from Bardon Hill 'running around' to have the locomotive at the correct end to head back toward Leicester, and the monthly track recording trains. In this video, an ultrasonic test train is seen both before and after using the line as far as Mantle Lane, also attracting quite a few others to see it. There was no need to actively anticipate its departure for so long, as a loud blast of the horn was heard clearly before the crossing activated the second time.

This crossing here was notable for having very long BR 'Western Region' barriers, the longest and largest left anywhere in the country, but lost these in 2020 in favour of the current barriers. Despite the first side's near-side one tapping the floor when lowered, they are all holding up remarkably well 5 years later despite being full-length. The extra set of lights atop the other near side's wigwag is also a newer addition, but this was put in while the old barriers still remained.
