Research led by Dr Chris Tape (UCL), in collaboration with Yale University, has shown how chemotherapy becomes less effective because healthy cells push bowel cancer cells to grow more slowly.
Rearchers used ‘mini-tumours’ and the latest single-cell analysis technologies to begin to solve the puzzle of why healthy cells in a patient’s bowel cancer tumour might lead to poor outcomes. Treatments that push cells back into their fast-growing state could improve outcomes
