Nigel Featham is failing the workers and bus users of the North East. First year in the job and his attack on workers' conditions has led to the first strike in 30 years.

We take our job very seriously. We are proud to provide a much-needed public service for the people of the North East.
We are a team:
Bus drivers are highly skilled. We carry the most precious of cargo - families, loved ones and friends. Hours are long, starting as early as 3am and finishing into the early hours. We work weekends and unsocial hours for no extra payment. We drive up to Shrs 30 mins without access to a toilet or refreshments.
Engineers battle daily to keep old vehicles running, often outdoors in all weathers.
Clerical workers take the brunt of complaints from the public, every day answering the phone to angry passengers, apologising for the bus not turning up due to the company's mismanagement of the bus services.
Supervisors keep the show on the road, trying to get work covered when there aren't enough drivers to put a service out.
Go North East's bosses do not support this team or you, the passengers. Instead, they squeeze every penny of profit, driving down service standards and our wages.

Engineers supervisory and clerical grades in the North East are paid less than those doing the same job in the North West.
