A photo of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's meeting with officials is being shared on social media with the claim that the two-child policy has been implemented in Uttar Pradesh. It has been said in the post that according to this policy, no government facility will be available if there are more than two children. In UP, families with more than two children will not get any government facilities including government jobs, ration, housing.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) captioned this picture, “Two-child law implemented in Uttar Pradesh. If you have more than two children, you will not get any government facility. Some users have also shared a short clip of a news channel, in which the anchor can be heard saying that the Chief Minister has come up with a new plan for population control. The archive of this post can be viewed here
However, this claim is misleading. A draft bill for the two-child policy has been submitted to the state government, but it has not been passed or implemented yet.

How did we find out the truth?
We did a reverse image search of the viral photo and found that it was posted on the official X account of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's Office on June 6, 2024. The caption of this post said that the pictures were taken during a meeting to review the public welfare projects of the state.
There is no mention of the implementation or discussion of the two-child policy law in this post.
Apart from this, the news clip shared in the viral post is also old. We found a video (archived here) uploaded on Republic Bharat's YouTube channel on July 11, 2021, in which the viral portion can be seen at around 16 minutes and ends at the time period of 18:11. In this, the news anchor tells that the Uttar Pradesh Law Commission has recommended that people with more than two children should be deprived of government jobs; And be ineligible for certain government welfare schemes and benefits.
