In this episode, Dr. Sh. Haifaa Younis shares the inspiring story of Zaynab bint Jahsh رضي الله عنها, one of the Mothers of the Believers and a woman remembered for her generosity, strength, and obedience to Allah.

Although her name is not mentioned directly in the Qur’an, her life was connected to several important verses revealed in Surah Al-Ahzab that changed social norms and clarified Islamic rulings.


Zaynab رضي الله عنها came from a noble family in Quraysh and was known for her beauty, strong personality, and devotion to worship. Yet what made her truly remarkable was her generosity and unwavering submission to Allah’s commands.

Through her story we learn:

• The importance of obeying Allah even when it challenges our comfort
• How Islam reformed social customs and cultural norms
• The value of generosity and charity
• Why the Prophet ﷺ described her as “the one with the longest hands”
• How true honor comes from taqwa, not lineage or status

The Prophet ﷺ once told his wives that the first among them to join him after his death would be “the one with the longest hands.” The companions initially thought it meant physical length, but they later realized it referred to her generosity and constant charity.


Zaynab bint Jahsh رضي الله عنها became known for her generosity, humility, and dedication to serving others.

Her life reminds us that the deeds we are remembered for should be acts of kindness and obedience to Allah.
