As part of the "Bridging Care for People Who Use Drugs" sessions with the Opioid Response Network (ORN), NHRC hosted the free webinar, "Impacts of Mental Health and Substance Use Stigma on Clients/Participants," introduced audience members to basic Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) principles and how applying this approach can enhance collaboration between providers and individuals who use substances and struggle with mental health disorders. Audience members also learned how TIC and harm reduction intersect, the role of stigma, and best practices for trauma-informed conflict management and de-escalation.
The "Bridging Care for People Who Use Drugs" sessions focused on mental health and substance use impacts and stigma, person-centered engagement, and structural determinants of health impacts on access to services.
