Описание: Domenico Zipoli (1688-1726) was an Italian composer and organist. He studied with Giovani Casini, Alessandro Scarlatti and Bernardo Pasquini. In 1715, he became organist at the Chiesa del Santissimo Nome de Gesù, the mother church of the Jesuits. In early 1716, he published his "Sonate d'intavolatura per organo e cimbalo," which also includes the "Pastorale" performed here. Also in 1716, he joined the Jesuits in Seville with the desire to be sent to South America. In Córdoba (in present-day Argentina), he worked as music director in the local Jesuit church. Zipoli died in the Jesuit house of Córdoba on January 2, 1726.

In Italian organs, reed stops were introduced by organ builders from "above the Alps." An example of such an organ builder is Willem Hermans (1601-1683).
Since Zipoli was an organist in Rome and probably knew organs by Hermans (who built several organs in Rome), it is certainly not inconceivable that he knew reed stops. To imitate the effect of bagpipes (also called Piva) some instruments had a stop called Zampogna. This was a stop consisting of two reed pipes, usually C and G. Exactly as we encounter in this Pastorale. This led me to the following register selection in this video: Dulcian 8, Principal 4, and in the pedal Trumpet 8. I play the "Allegro" section with a Flute 4.

The choir organ of the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam was built in 1658 by Johannes Wolfgang Schonat. This organ was demolished in 1821, but the case was preserved. In 1964/65 Ahrend & Brunzema built a new instrument in the old organ case of Schonat. The design of Schonat was followed as much as possible. In 2002 the tuning was changed by Flentrop to a 1/4 comma meantone tuning.
