In 1975 at the height of then Ugandan president Idi Amin's reign, he travelled to the UN and OAU chairman spoke on behalf of Africa. He refused to speak in the colonial language, English and spoke in Luganda asking his ambassador Khalid Yunus Kinene to translate his speech in English for the world leaders gathered in the UN General Assembly.
Exclusively here, and for the first time, i speak to ambassador Khalid Yunus Kinene on what it felt like being called to address the UN on a platform that only presidents ever addressed.
