Описание: This video tells the story of how arts organisation Nutkhut and its partners from across the globe came together to create Girmit during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Girmit seeks to highlight and showcase a hidden history, indentured labour, to wider audiences like never before, by using emerging technology and a variety of different artforms. This behind the scenes video explores each element of the process and activity within Girmit.

Learn how the team at Nutkhut carried out research into the lives of the Girmityas with the help of The National Archives, captured the human stories and feelings from those who were impacted by the indentured labour system, developed resources for teachers and parents wanting to engage children in stories from history, and worked with artists across the globe to create a project that would tell this widely unknown story to a large audience online.
