Synopsis:
For the homeowner who is only looking for emergency backup power, a dedicated residential battery system is overkill; but, a strategy that we see underutilized in the industry is joining portable power stations to inlet junctions such as generator input panels or interlock kits. Though there is a small sacrifice in electrical capacity and output, the large majority of consumers could live close to full day on a conservative electrical diet in the case of an emergency AND have a power source that could travel with them if they needed power in a remote scenario: Tailgating, camping, roadtripping, etc.

In this video, we’ll install a “gen panel” for a Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus to backup 6 critical loads with 1 cord and the flip of a switch. Oh, and did we mention it can also serve as an inverter to power those loads with solar too? Check it out!
