Gushing:
As always, her ability to pull off this kind of routine flawlessly is amazing. The way chat escalates it and then she does too is so good. "Marry me" to "Sure, if you pick up my snot tissues" to "I’ll eat them" to "Can I watch?" is just too funny, she knows her chat so well and vice-versa. Plus the other conditions are super cute, too.
Usual disclaimers:
I make these clips in large part to practice my not so great Japanese. My friend Cherem helps me with them which I really appreciate and makes them a lot better. I like to leave detailed translator’s notes to provide extra explanations and help people understand why I chose to translate certain things in certain ways.
Timestamp so youtube doesn't interpret my TNs as “chapters”: 3:03
Translator’s notes:
0:09 Usually I would tell you that Soya’s ‘usual’ first-person pronoun is her nickname, Soya. But as I’m sure you’ve noticed if you’ve been watching my clips of her, she’s not exactly consistent with that. The first-person pronouns she switches between in this clip are:
Soya: Her nickname and usual first-person. Different from her family name’s normal pronunciation of “Souya,” although she’ll often just pronounce that as “Soya” anyway. She changed her first person pronoun from “Ichika” to “Soya” so that people would call her Soya because it’s easier to egosearch.
Watashi: Very common first-person, generally considered a good default. Leans slightly formal and slightly feminine.
Atashi: Lazy way of pronouncing “watashi,” more casual and more feminine.
0:18 Whether this verb is “laughed” or “smiled” is entirely contextual. I chose to interpret it as “laugh” because that’s a slightly higher standard.
1:47 Definitely want to point out that this word for “snot” is literally “nose water.”
2:08 There are many cases in this clip where she gets half a syllable out and then cuts herself off. As usual I’m not going to guess what she was trying to say so I’ve just transcribed the sounds in those cases.
