Avro Lancaster "PA474" northbound over Thirlmere Reservoir The Lake District heading to Scotland for the Ayr Festival of Flight Show 06/09/24.
The low late afternoon sun directly in front and just above the ridge was not ideal but sound from the four Rolls Royce V-12 Merlin engines definitely made up for it.
PA474 was built at the Vickers Armstrong Broughton factory Chester in May 1945 shortly after VE day, there are only two airworthy Lancasters left in the world with the other located in Canada - 7,377 were built.
