The Supply Chain Due Diligence Act has been in force since January 1, 2023.
The requirements for sustainability reporting are changing substantially as a result of the new EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
With the expansion of the reporting requirement, the number of companies required to report will increase from around 500 to around 15,000 across Germany from 2024, according to estimates.PARTSLIFE takes a deeper look into the topic.
What do you need to be CSRD compliant?
Process knowledge
The overall framework must be just as clear as the specific process requirements for the materiality analysis.
Competencies and ability
In addition to the “buy-in” from management, “topic owners” are needed, for example, deal with CO2 data or sustainability in the supply chain. The integration should be clarified early on.
Data availability and quality
In total there are almost 1,200 possible data points. Data must be collected, consolidated and checked for plausibility at an early stage.

LKSG
Since the beginning of 2023, the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz - LkSG) is for the first time regulating the responsibility of German companies to respect human rights and environmental concerns in global supply chains in a binding manner. The LkSG was passed with the clear objective of obliging companies to continuously analyze their supply chain in order to identify risks and remedy grievances.
What do you need to be LkSG compliant?
Understanding your value chain
Before starting the LkSG implementation process in detail, get on overview of your value chain. This is helpful to understand (e.g.) the dimension of the due diligence process/system.
Set up cross-functional teams
Different topics and units need to be addressed, i.a. HR, risk management, procurement, environmental management.
Mix between hands-on approach and software support
Companies should check which LkSG requirements they can implement based on internal knowledge (e.g. policy statement, grievance mechanism) and where software support is needed (e.g. risk analysis/management of suppliers)
