Fresh off the back of the 1.54 update for Gran Turismo 7 being made available to preload on PlayStation 5 consoles, Polyphony Digital has now revealed the contents for the patch which arrives tomorrow.

As things stand, the bulky nature of the PS5 patch – coming in at 32GB, or ten times the size of even a large update – doesn’t entirely clue you into what’s inside, as from this teaser alone it looks like a regular monthly content drop.

That means that there’s likely still more information to come, with this huge batch of additional data likely relating to the PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced update and alterations to the standard PS5 version of the game in order to support
Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.54: New Cars
Although we guessed the identities of the five cars pretty quickly, the update reveal confirms some of the finer details regarding model grades and years. They are as follows:

Ford Escort RS Cosworth 1992
Mercedes-Benz W196R 1955
Porsche 911 (992) Turbo S 2020
Porsche Mission X Concept 2023
Suzuki Jimny Sierra JC 2018
It’s a bit tricky to pull a highlight from that, but the one that’ll probably get the most attention is the Escort RS Cosworth. This has been one of the most highly requested vehicles among fans for years, and a car which has never been in a GT game before in roadgoing form.



Alongside that we’d go for the Mercedes, which joins the McLaren MP4/4 and Honda RA272 in adding classic Formula 1 cars to the series.

This one is among the most successful cars to have ever raced — with pilots like Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss — and it’s also likely to be the most expensive car ever added to the game; the last time one sold it had a hammer price of over $30m…

Two modern Porsches of very different intent join the title too. The Turbo S is an overdue example of the turbocharged 992, while the Mission X is an all-electric preview for Porsche’s next hypercar.




Finally there’s the “Sierra” body version of the Suzuki Jimny, which joins its kei sibling introduced earlier in the year. This has the wider arches and a larger, 1.5-liter engine with 100hp, and was the only version of the three-door available outside its native Japan.

We’ll have to wait for prices and dealership details, but we’re expecting the Mercedes to be a 20m credit, Legends Cars vehicle, with the Mission X at 1m in Brand Central alongside the 992 Turbo S at about 200,000cr. The Jimny will likely be the cheapest at ~20,000cr in Brand Central, and the Escort has been confirmed to sit in Used Cars alongside its RS500 stablemate. An example recently sold for £200,000 ($250,000), so it’s anybody’s guess what the pricing will be.


Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.54: New Events
Gran Turismo Sophy headlines the new events — but not for players on PlayStation 4 consoles — with two new circuits supporting the advanced AI.

You’ll be able to take part in races against Sophy on the Trial Mountain and Tokyo Expressway East Clockwise courses. Oddly, the teaser image for Sophy (above) also seems to show a new “Emote” page in the multifunction display, indicating that you can clap back to Sophy’s own emotes… One can only hope that this is game-wide and we can use it in Daily Races too!

There’s no new Bonus Menu Books this time round, but there are three more races in existing series. The Jimny Cup gains a round at Grand Valley South, the Porsche Cup has a new race at Laguna Seca, and the Race of Turbo Sportscars now visits Mount Panorama too. We usually see one race keyed to each of the new vehicles, and that appears to have left the Mercedes out of the mix.

One new Extra Menu Book is added, going by the name of “Ferrari Speciale”, and it looks like a bit of a beast. You’ll need to collect the Ferrari F40, Ferrari F50, and Ferrari Enzo Ferrari for this, and GT7 fans will be keenly aware that this is two Legends cars and one Invitation exclusive vehicle. Let’s hope the reward is a good one at least…

There’s also set to be a pair of “celebration race” events made available for a short period, to tie-in with the Gran Turismo World Series World Finals in Amsterdam. As we’ve previously seen, this will comprise a Manufacturers Cup race and a Nations Cup race — likely of the same combinations used in some of the finals races — with a 500,000cr reward for each.


Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.54: New Scapes and Other Changes
It’s a rare occasion to get a new wheel manufacturer added to GT7, so the addition of Rotiform to the line-up is a cause for celebration. While the provided image hints that this will comprise just seven additional wheels, we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out the full extent.

A new set of Scapes centering on the US State of Colorado will be added. There’s 30 new locations, although we haven’t yet seen them all.
