북악산 동쪽에는 숙정문, 서쪽에는 창의문이 있으며, 이들은 한양도성의 4소문 중 일부입니다.
경복궁의 후원 역할을 하며, 조선시대 소나무 중심의 경관 조성이 이루어졌습니다.

Secret Fortress Paths in Seoul's Heart: Bukaksan Mountain's Cheongundae and Gokjang

Bukaksan Mountain is located north of Gyeongbokgung Palace in the heart of Seoul. It is the main mountain of the four mountains surrounding Hanyang, the capital of the Joseon Dynasty, and serves as the northernmost point. It is also known as Baekaksan Mountain, Myeonak, Gonggeukbong, and Buksan.
When King Taejo of Joseon designated Hanyang as the capital, he designed the city walls with Bukaksan Mountain as the northern guardian mountain. This mountain corresponds to the North Black Tortoise, called Bukhyunmu in feng shui, and was a symbolic existence that prayed for the well-being and prosperity of the dynasty.
To the east of Bukaksan Mountain stands Sukjeongmun Gate, and to the west stands Changuimun Gate. These are among the four small gates of Hanyangdoseong. They serve as the rear garden of Gyeongbokgung Palace, and the landscape was designed during the Joseon Dynasty, centered around pine trees.
