With a 0 to 60 time of less than three seconds, the Jeep Magneto 2.0 is the fastest Jeep ever produced. Based on a Wrangler Rubicon JL, it takes cues from a long lineage of seven slot grills going back through the Wrangler JK, TJ, and YJ lineup to the CJ-5 and CJ-7...and even the Willys MB flat fender. That's right, it is fitted with Dynatrac stick axles, 6-speed manual transmission, and 2-speed transfer case, a super flexy suspension (okay, so the CJ and Willys are stiff as a buckboard), 40-inch MAXXIS RAZR tires, Mopar bead-lock wheels, and twin 400-volt EDMs (electric drive module) that produce 850 ponies and 850 lb.-ft of torque.
Before you throw us under the Electric Vehicle bus, here us out. Rick Péwé and Chris Collard both drove Magneto 2.0 in Moab at the Easter Jeep Safari, and emerged with ear-to-ear smiles. Would we take it across Africa like Dan Greg in his Wrangler JK, maybe not right now…V5.0 possible? But Jeep’s Magneto 2.0 EV is ton of fun to drive and a great example of what Jeep is making possible in the EV world.
