Udaipur is quite budget friendly when it comes to stay and in city travel but a little hard on pocket for food.
You get plenty of options to reach Udaipur, trains are the cheapest but sleeper buses are a good comfortable option too.
For stay, hostels are THE BEST.
You can stay anywhere near lake Pichola because everything is easily accessible from it.
I stayed at Moustache hostels and Musafir hostel and loved them both.
For food, it’s better to cook your own meals in hostels a few times but do try the famous places. For cheap food, you can rely on Dhabas because that’s the only pocket friendly option I found.
Carry your student id because you will get discounts on most entries in Palaces etc
