What is River Capture?

Описание: River capture, or stream piracy, occurs when one river diverts the flow of another due to erosion, tectonic activity, glacial movement, or differential erosion. This process can cause the captured river to lose volume, while the capturing river gains more water, altering landscapes, ecosystems, and sediment transport. Over time, river capture can reshape valleys and change drainage patterns significantly.
