Reminiscence Knex Ball Machine

Описание: Reminiscence. The name for this project was intentional. Over the last few years, ball machines have become quite repetitive. Most have the amazing white floor design by Kairah and a load of different lift systems. Though some amazing designs have come out over the years, this project is meant to be a flashback, or reminisce, on ball machines before those ideas became standard part of every project.

Reminisce has two, simple chain lifts so that the focus of the machine is on the elements. I also wanted a different collection point method than the white flooring, so I designed this 'stadium' collection system at the bottom.

Something else I tried to accomplish is making the paths as clear to watch as possible. Nothing hidden or covered by other elements. I think Path 5 suffered the most in this regard. That area was really tight and is, I think, the weakest part of the project.

However, I'm really happy with the final result, especially with a few elements such as the 'leap frog' in path 8 and the rotating ball arm in path 4.

I also want to give a warm thanks to Kyle (Shadowman39) for his friendship and inspiration over many years. Though he wasn't directly involved in this project, the gray plating design surrounding the base was designed by him.

The final reason I called this project 'Reminiscence' is because its likely my last large-scale project for a while. A month after completing the project I got married and moved out with my wife. I've finished my engineering degree and am now in full-time work in my dream job where I get to share the epic news about Jesus with university students.

I hope over time I can work on some smaller scale projects and maybe come back to big projects like this sometime down the track. Until then, I hope you enjoy this fond farewell of sorts.
