The vote recount for Masaka City Woman MP race is at 60% on the third day of the exercise, according to Masaka Chief Magistrate, Abert Asiimwe.
The recount has unearthed gross mismatch in figures on the Declaration of Results (DR) Forms and the number of ballots found in the corresponding boxes.
So far, six ballot boxes have been set aside after they were found in a suspicious condition, raising concerns of tampering.
The recounting is being done in the presence of one of the contestants, (applicant) Justine Nameere of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM). National Unity Platform (NUP) 's Rose Nalubowa who was declared the winner of the January 15 polls by the returning officer walked way on Friday protesting the chief Magistrate's decision to proceed with the exercise despite finding one of the ballot boxes with a broken seal.
